10 Inspirational Websites

http://www.pentagram.com/#/home

Famous design firm website whose website is suited for someone (or many someones) that have a large body of work. I really like how the work is tagged and categorized so a potential client can see what they’ve done that could be related to the project they have in mind.

http://www.leilakhoury-sculpture.com/bio-statement/

Leila is an old acquaintance of mine and I looked her up recently to see what she was up to. I really liked her very simple website, clean nav, and focus on her work. The reason why I linked directly to her bio was because I like how she organized her experience.

http://darrenbooth.com/

Darren booth is a multimedia illustrator. I love the organized tiles and how they emphasize the precision and lushness of his work. I also like that his logo is his signature (legible, appropriate for an illustrator), and it’s also a nice a simple, clean website. The way the tiles animate when the page first loads is also delightful.

http://spacejunk.com/

SpaceJunk is a crazy media firm located in Columbus. I only know about them because a good friend of mine is a part of their team, but they have clients like Magic: The Gathering and Jack Daniels. I love how punchy their nav is.. kind of obnoxious, but in a good way because they are kind of obnoxious. I also like the way they organize their work but I wish the content swapped out with the featured content, it would be more intuitive.

http://www.charliewagers.com

Charlie Wagers is a print designer and creates screen printed posters and t-shirts for locally and nationally famous bands. The design of the website mimics the look and feel of his work like Pentagram, I like the way his work is categorized. I wish it was mobile friendly though!

http://alicegao.com/

Alice Gao is a photographer and she produces clean, dramatic photos filled with light and shadow for clients. I like her splash with her randomized featured work and categorization. As someone that plans to dabble in web design, illustration and regular ol’ design, categorization is important to me.

http://www.marcusthomasllc.com/work

Colorful and simple, smooth nav and  I like the popups over the work thumbnails with brief descriptions of what it’s about.
